This was the first day we were allowed to go home after the fire. We had been staying at my moms for a week and a half. Sleeping on air mattresses in the living room. It was beginning to take a toll on us all. Emotionally and physically.
The emotional roller coaster of the initial fire, getting everyone out of the house, being displaced from the house for 11 nights, and moving back in with nothing working and the house in total disarray.
The sacrifices made to be able to sleep in our beds. As I was driving home i was thinking of all the things we wouldn't be able to do until further restoration was made. But at this time they had replaced all of our TV's and our laptops were back!

The first time walking into my house after all of the cleaning was finished. The ozone machine produces an awful chemical smell. Cleaning crew said 3-5 hours it will dissipate. That was a day ago, when they removed it!

A good nights sleep was way over due. It had been 11 nights sleeping on a deflating air mattress. We had none of our linens but we made it through. We borrowed extra sheets and found some throw blankets at my moms.
I thought of everything we needed to borrow from my moms, except for hand towels. I hate having drippy hands and no clean place to dry them off on.

The days and repairs were dragging on. Our patience is wearing thin, we just want the house back to normal again.. who's decides whats normal?
As if I needed anything else to make my days a little crazier. Boxes and boxes of stuff piled up in the kitchen. I have an organization system I use and when it's boxed up it becomes out of sight out of mind.. Oops. Better late then never.

A little humor. I needed that. My daughter is most devistated by not having her clothes. She only has enough to wear for five 7-year-olds. My fashonista couldn't be caught wearing an outfit twice in the same week.
My daughters reaction to the fire was much different then mine. It was an opportunity to see how it impacted her life (at 7) and how she handled the situation.

KIDS! stubborn, independent and did I mention entertaining! Now most times I would be so proud that he wants to brush his teeth. However, we had just emptied all of the sinks and tub so the plumber could safely replace our hot water heater. No water=no brushing teeth. Try explaining that to the two year old crying at the sink with his toothbrush in hand.

I felt like a kid on Christmas! There were two huge boxes of clothes. Thought for sure that we had all gotten a few more outfits to get us through until the rest of our laundry was back. NOPE! It was mostly all boys clothes. My son and fiance were excited, but us girls... not so much.
At the bottom of the box I found a few hidden treasures. Random spare sheets which was enough to cover all of our beds and 2 hand towels. One for each bathroom! We were going through paper towels like they are free.
This is definitely a pet-peeve of mine. I am the worst in a public bathroom with no paper towels. There is something about wiping my hands clean and dry, and when I can't the drippies drive me nuts.
