reflection
The Mashup assignment was by far the most nerve wracking experience thus far. I thought for sure this assignment was going to get the best of me. Fortunately, that attitude was short lived. I had the controversial issue that I wanted to explore, greed. I had a vision for the overall project. I did the research, attended my conference, downloaded movie maker apps and asked a lot of questions until I finally had enough information and guidance to start. Once I did I didn't want to stop. I enjoyed tweaking my mashup every chance I had.
The technical aspect of this assignment is where I was having issues. I was unfamiliar with any software that offers video editing capabilities. After finding some guidance I got started right away. I really enjoyed finding music clips that I felt carried the vision of my project and the aspects of the issue that I wanted to highlight. I had fun editing the music to play portions of videos and creating ending points where the videos flow into one another.
In addition, then finding still images that directly related to the words of the music was almost addicting. There were so many images that displayed the causes and effects of greed. Along with that the images revealed the emotions that coincide with them. The images alone could carry a story, so when placed with the words they projected even more power.
I have a new found respect for people who are talented enough to produce professional pieces that include such precise editing such as with movies, shows, videos, and advertisements. The intricate details that come along with creating something that has perfect flow and consistency is tedious and I've learned hard to do.
My mashup is not perfect but I feel that it my never be. And I am okay with that. I think that it is something that can continue to be worked on and added too. I can definitely say that greed is an aspect of life that has always infected the way people live and I think it is safe to assume always will be. This has created an abundance of material to use for this topic and ensures there will be new to come.
